What does it cost?

Barclays Premier League On Demand is provided free of charge to all iiNet customers, and we warmly encourage you all to brag about this to your friends and workmates at every opportunity.

Does it count towards my monthly traffic quota?

No, and you should mention that to your friends and workmates too.

What sort of coverage can I expect?

Barclays Premier League On Demand will feature up to 5 new games each round for you to watch at your convenience in their entirety. We will endeavour to cover all Barclays Premier League clubs as equally as possible.

Can I get this coverage over the Internet anywhere else?

Not for free. FOX SPORTS (whose partnership with us is making this service possible) offer an Internet-based subscription service which lets you watch these matches live and on demand. If reading that made your heart skip a beat, click here to find out more.

When do the matches become available for viewing and how long do they remain on the site?

Matches we post will generally be available for viewing approximately six hours after the game kicks off. Due to our rights restrictions, all matches which are available on Barclays Premier League have On Demand to be removed from the site shortly before the next round of matches in the Barclays Premier League commences.

How fast does my broadband connection need to be to view Barclays Premier League On Demand?

The games are available as high bandwidth (>500 kilobits per second) streaming Windows Media files. As such, any broadband users on the iiNetwork should be able to watch these matches without significant disruptions.

Customers on our wholesale network with connection speeds of 512kbps or less may experience disruptions in the video. To minimise any streaming problems, don't download anything else from the Internet while watching the video streams of Barclays Premier League games. Furthermore if you're experiencing disruptions while watching the high quality version, try switching over to the medium quality version instead.

Which media player can I use to watch it?

Barclays Premier League is delivered in Windows Media Video (WMV) format; to view it, you'll need at least Windows Media Player version 10 or its equivalent. Some features, trailers, and miscellaneous video may be in Flash Video format, which needs Adobe Flash Player version 7 or higher. Your browser may prompt you if it needs to install any extra software to make the streams work.

Which web browser can I use to watch it?

While the media player will run in most browsers, we suggest Internet Explorer 6 or above, or its equivalent.

Your browser must have Javascript and cookies enabled for the player to work properly.

I have a Mac. Can I watch Barclays Premier League On Demand?

Barclays Premier League can be viewed on Mac OS X. Can I record or download and save Barclays Premier League On Demand matches?

Due to copyright and broadcast restrictions, you're not allowed to record matches, download and save matches, or capture the video streams to a local file using stream-ripping software.

Why can't I watch every match and whatever match I want to each week?

The way the Barclays Premier League rights package works means that we are not able to transmit every single match of any one club for on demand viewing in any season. However we feel the depth of content available each week allows you the best and most convenient way to follow any club you happen to support.

Can I access this coverage outside the iiNet Network?

Barclays Premier League On Demand is provided as a free service by iiNet exclusively to our own customers. Internet users outside iiNet must subscribe to FOX SPORTS to view the content.

Why can't I access it if I am not on an iiNet connection?

Barclays Premier League is only offered by iiNet to its own customers; this is enforced by only allowing the matches to be streamed to devices connected directly up to our network over iiNet broadband connections. If you think you should be able to view it from your current Internet connection but our website indicates otherwise, please notify iiNet Support on 13 22 58.

If I watch live or on demand matches through FOX SPORTS On Demand, does it count towards my quota?

Content accessed directly through FOX SPORTS is not part of the Freezone and will count towards your monthly traffic quota.

Is it possible to access previous matches?

Matches that are offered on Barclays Premier League On Demand are made available until shortly before the first game of the following round; this may only be until midweek if midweek fixtures are scheduled. We will post new matches each round, up to five each week.

When I click the link to watch the match, nothing happens.

It's possible you have a pop-up blocker installed, and it's misbehaving.

  • Internet Explorer users can control IE's native pop-up blocker from the "Tools" menu. In the "Pop-up Blocker", it's possible to both deactivate it completely or add an exception by adding the address *.iinet.net.au to the exception list.
  • Safari users can go to the "Safari" menu and untick the option to block pop-ups.
  • Firefox users can control pop-ups by going to "Tools", "Options" and "Content", then clicking the "Exceptions" box on the right-hand side of the window level with the option to "Block Popup Windows". Add the Barclays Premier League site to exceptions, then click "OK" on all open configuration windows.

When I try to launch the player, I receive an error message.

  • Try closing your browser and re-starting it.
  • Windows users should ensure that all Windows Media Player components are up to date by going to Windows Update.
  • Ensure that your firewall isn't blocking your browser.

The video image disappeared when I clicked a control, or is invisible.

Here are some known issues with the Windows Media Player plugin and (where applicable) the solution. These only apply to the old plugin.

If, when playing a video, the video image is either invisible or disappears when you click a control, you need to adjust the plugin settings:

  • When the player is active, right-click on it and select 'Options...'
  • At the bottom of the window should be a 'Video Acceleration' option. Change it from full to half (or to zero, if needed) by moving the slider.

I have Firefox with Windows Media Player 11 installed and it's not playing.

You may need to download the Windows Media Player plugin for Firefox before the video will play.

In Internet Explorer 6, I only see sound and a static screen shot. No video plays.

Right-click the video window and go into "Settings". Uncheck the box labelled "Dialup", and check the box labelled "Auto-detect connection speed".

Under Windows, I only see a blank window when I click on any of the game links; the video doesn't play.

You may need to register wmnetmgr.dll. To do this, run the following command from the Start menu through the Run option: regsvr32 wmnetmgr.dll. (Source: Microsoft.)

I get an Internal Server Error when attempting to watch a match.

We've seen this happen when Google Mail (GMail) is open in another window, specifically in Firefox. Try logging out of Google Mail and closing that tab or restarting Firefox altogether.
